Other common names: English lavender, Alpine lavender

Binomial name: Lavandula angustifolia.

Origin: France. Comments: French chefs in and around the Provence region of France have been incorporating this herb into their cooking for many centuries. Lavender lends a floral, slightly sweet and elegant flavour to most dishes. For most cooking applications it is the dried buds (also referred to as flowers) of lavender that are used.

Use: Lavender can also be cooked! Use it on cookies, in cakes, sherbets (first you have to infuse it), chocolate, leg of lamb, in chicken stuffing etc. It also makes a very good herbal tea.

Producer: Crousset
