Kusmi Tea
Pavel Michailovitch Kousmichoff (1840-1908) left his native village at the age of 14 to work as a delivery boy in a tea store. A few years later, at the age of 27, Pavel opened his first store in St. Petersburg, leading to the creation of the P. M. Kousmichoff tea company in 1867.
In 1917, the firm had 51 shops in all the major Russian cities. At the outbreak of the Russian Revolution, Pavel’s eldest son Viatcheslav transferred part of his fortune to the London office and the company headquarters to Paris, where he founded Kusmi Tea.
In 2003, the Orebi family bought the company, carrying on the tradition of the Kousmichoff family and expanding the international scope of the firm under the name Kusmi Tea. These teas are now offered in the best luxury boutiques all over the world.
